BARBARA SMITH

Barbara Ann Smith, age 76, of Middlesboro, Kentucky passed away on May 18, 2025 at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Barbara, a lifelong resident of Middlesboro, was born in Bell County, Kentucky to the late Lawrence and Dorothy King Hunley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Smith, brother Lawrence Hunley Jr., sister Thelma Moore, daughter Jennifer Lee, sister-in-law Sherry Hunley.

Barbara retired from Middlesboro ARH Hospital, where she worked in the sterilization department. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, with a great capacity for love and caring for others. She loved being with her family and spending her time letting them know how very special they were to her. Barbara enjoyed watching her favorite game shows and daytime soap operas. But Barbara’s passion was shopping, the trips, the bargains, all of it; the haul at the end of the day gave her such a kick and a thrill.

Left with fond and cherished memories, her son James Smith, son-in-law Neil Lee, brothers Kenny Hunley, Gary (Robin) Hunley, Jimmy (Elaine) Hunley, sisters, Bonnie (Bill) Smith, Donna (John) Senters, grandchildren Brooke (Logan) Hiefner, Dalton (Katelyn) Lee, Dylan (Maddie) Lee, great-grandchildren Brogan Hiefner, Colton Hiefner, Avery Lee, Murphy Lee, Presleigh Anthony, special friends Cecil Barnett, Martha and Al Smith, and her special dog, Romeo, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends who will miss her dearly.

The family of Barbara Smith will receive friends Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel.
