BOBBY J. MESSER

Bobby J. Messer, age 88, of Flat Lick, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Hazard A.R.H. Hospital.  He was born April 16, 1937 in Flat Lick, Kentucky to Frank and Lizzie Knuckles Messer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Gladys Wilson Messer, sisters; Sally Sizemore, Lodus Stacy, and Marie Harris, brothers; Oples Messer, Walter Messer, Lawson Messer, and George Messer.

He is survived by his children; Georgia Marie (Mark) Vargas, Deloris Messer, and Bobby (Bridgett) Messer, sister Gladys Messer, grandchildren; Mark (Kimberly) Messer, Robert (Ieshia) Vargas, Jeffery (Ashley) Vargas, Johnathan (Tessa) Messer, Amanda Messer, Ricky (Autumn) Pletcher, Jacklyn (Justice) Bishop, and Brandon (Knesia) Pletcher, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bobby retired from General Motors after working there for 33 years.  He was a member of Pontiac Missionary Baptist Church.  He loved spending time with his family, fishing, mowing grass, wrestling, and going to church.  Bobby wasn’t a long talker but there was hardly a day that he didn’t call his children.  He will be dearly missed.

The family of Bobby J. Messer will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Fuson officiating.  Music will be provided by Rev. David Fuson and Naomi Fuson.

Graveside Services will immediately follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro, Kentucky.
