Charlene Marie Perry, age 79, of Pathfork, Kentucky passed away December 18, 2024, at the Harlan A.R.H. Hospital after many years of struggling with multiple, long-term illnesses. She had been a worthwhile opponent, a valiant fighter, facing each and every difficulty in life with great tenacity. She was ready to go be with her Lord and Savior to live victoriously with no more pain. She was a very beloved mother, wife, and grandmother and her absence will be felt by all of her family. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Molus Pentecostal Church.
She started her working career in Chicago, IL. at Sears-Roebuck, Inc. as a store clerk. Following her move to Kentucky with her new family in the 70s, she began working with a few ladies from the Pathfork area taking night classes at Black Star school in pursuit of earning her GED, taught by the great Mrs. Pauline Warfield, where she earned her GED. She quickly began working in the elementary school cafeteria at Black Star school. Later she began working at The Harlan hospital cafeteria, then transferred to the X-RAY lab as an X-RAY technician where she achieved formal certified status through OJT courses. She was an X-RAY TECH for a number of years, then decided to branch out and began her final career as a PHARMACY TECHNICIAN job within the Harlan hospital, also working very hard in achieving certification there through OJT courses. She had a long and fulfilling career at Harlan ARH that spanned 30 years.
She was born in Palmdale, California on October 26, 1945, to the late Charlie and Pauline Carroll. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother Jerry Carroll and her sister Betty Sherman.
She leaves behind James Everette Perry, Jr., her devoted husband of 63 years, her sons Karl Everette Perry, Darrell Edward Perry, Kevin Wayne Perry, daughter-in-law Melissa Renee Perry, sisters Margaret Carroll, Virginia Boyd-Carroll, Nita Nartnik, grandchildren Sarah Rose Perry, Seth Ian James Perry, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
