Charles Randall “Randy” Burchette, cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on October 7, 2025 at the age of 78.
He was born on April 14, 1947 in Cumberland Gap, TN to Joe and Geneva Burchette, who preceded him in death. Randy was saved as a young boy and lived a life of faith and service.
Randy will be remembered by his humor, leadership, kindness, and his natural ability to create lasting relationships. He treated everyone he met with the upmost love and respect. Meeting Randy meant meeting a lifelong friend who would be the first to offer his hand to help.
Randy graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in the spring of 1967 and later that year met the love of his life, Brenda Sutton. They were married a short time later in the spring of 1968 and moved to Harrogate. Randy began teaching 7th grade social studies in Middlesboro and sold cars in the summer at Rowland Chevrolet. After a few years, he took a job selling auto glass for a Knoxville based company. A natural born salesman, his territory grew and eventually became the entire state of Tennessee. In 1989 Randy left glass sales and opened his own business, Randy Burchette Motors.
Randy loved his community in Harrogate and was very active in so many ways. His used car lot, Randy Burchette Motors was a fixture in the city for over 20 years and he always welcomed people to stop and chat anytime. He joined the Shawanee Masonic Lodge #546 in April 1971, serving over 54 years. He proudly served on the Claiborne County School Board for several terms beginning in 1986, many of them as the board chairman. In 2012 he began serving as the chairman of the Harrogate City Planning and Zoning Committee and later in 2021 joined the Harrogate City Council representing the East Ward and serving as vice-mayor. One of his proudest accomplishments was being ordained as a deacon at Shawanee Baptist Church in 2023.
Randy loved the Lord, his church, his wife and family fiercely. He also loved building and driving street rods and cheering on the Tennessee Vols. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years Brenda, his daughter Beth (Todd) Thompson, grandchildren Grant and Avery Thompson; his brother Gary (Frances) Burchette; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
The family will receive friends at Shawanee Baptist Church on Thursday October 9, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with Funeral Services immediately following at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverends Donnie Fox and Stuart Fultz officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 10, 2025 at the Harrogate Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of Shawanee Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to Shawanee Baptist Church.
Green Hills Funeral Home, Middlesboro, is honored to serve the Burchette Family.
