DALE BURFORD

Dale Elvin Burford, age 86, a resident of Harrogate, TN, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on October 28, 1934 to the late Sanford Stanton and Flora Maye Cornell Burford.

Dale had been a resident of Harrogate, TN for most of his adult life, moving here from West Virginia in 1965. He had worked as an insurance salesman for Bankers Life and as a fine jewelry salesman before starting his own company, Ellenburf’s Heating, Plumbing and Cooling. Dale was also very active in his community, serving with the Harrogate Volunteer Fire Department, as well as proudly serving his country with the National Guard. Above all though, Dale was a dedicated Man of God; he loved the Lord and served Him with his whole heart. His first question to everyone he met would be “Are you a Christian?”. He wanted everyone to know the Lord and be Saved. He was most recently a member of Miller’s Chapel Baptist Church. All who were blessed to have known Dale will remember his love for the Lord and others. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memory, wife Barbara Burford, children Donna D. Jordan (David) of Winfield W.V., Delilah E. Kemper of St. Albans, W.V., Pebble Twyla Donathan (Jon) of N.C., and Sanford H. Burford of Charleston, W.V., grandchildren Chad Johnson, Lori Bales, Dane Jordan, Kara Kemper Rose, Brittany Kemper Halstead, Timmalee Kemper, Cody Kemper, Zach Donathan, Gavin Donathan and Colton Donathan, great-grandchildren Brianna Kemper Halstead, Jakob Halstead, Emmah Halstead, Sierra Rose, Savanna Rose, Chase Johnson, Ty Johnson, Luke Johnson, Landon Bales, Desira Bales, Jasmine Bales and Chelsea Paige Orndorff, great-grandchildren Benaiah Donathan and Owen John Orndorff, siblings Loreen E Burford Anderson and Virginia Burford Thaxton, step-children June Reese (James) and Patricia Gibbons both of Naples, FL. and Patricia Renn (Bob), Daniel Shultz and Rick Shultz all of Dyer, IN., as well as a host of many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you to Dr. Saji Eapen, ARNP Tiffany Sipe and Staff of the Irene Baker & Howard H. Baker Cancer Treatment Center, Harrogate TN, Dr. Robertson and Staff of the Family Medical Center, Harrogate, TN, Amedysis Home Health Staff, Suncrest Hospice, and the Nurses and Emergency Staff at the Claiborne Medical Center for their excellent care provided.

The family of Dale Burford will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2021 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2021 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside Services to immediately follow at the Mountainview Cemetery, Harrogate ,TN with Full Military Honors presented by the Jellico Honor Guard. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions in Dale’s memory be made to the Irene & Howard Baker Cancer Treatment Center, 389 Forge Ridge Rd, Harrogate, TN 37752.
