DANNY KILGORE Obituary

Danny Andrew Kilgore, age 77, of Harrogate, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 6:00AM after fighting a battle with cancer since his diagnosis in February 2024.

Danny was born on November 11, 1946, in Bell County, Kentucky, to the late Fred Kilgore and Virginia McAfee Kilgore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Karen Riley Kilgore, as well as his special friends Coye Silcox and Larry Silcox.

Danny was baptized on April 6, 1958, in Middlesboro, Kentucky.  He was an active member of First Christian Church (FCC) in Middlesboro, Kentucky.  He was ordained as an Elder of FCC on November 8, 2021, and served as Chairman of the Board.  Danny actively participated in the FCC Jail Ministry.  He was so grateful to have the opportunity to share The Word and help lead others to their salvation.

Danny entered the United States Navy on December 30, 1965, and was honorably discharged on September 1, 1971.

Danny loved his Savior, his church family, and his family.  In turn, Danny was loved by all who knew him.  He always tried to put a smile on the faces of those he knew and met.  He loved to recall and share stories of times past and told them over and over and over. He had a wonderful mind and could remember in great detail the history of those he had met and loved.

Danny was also a true University of Kentucky Wildcats fan.  He bled blue and never wanted to miss a game.  I can still hear him yelling, “Go Big Blue!”.

Danny worked many years in the floor covering business.  He excelled in the industry because he was such a social person and a big advocate of customer service.

Danny was an inspiration to us all and our lives are much richer for having known and loved him, and from being loved by him.  He will be sorely missed by all.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Susan Meyers Kilgore; mother-in-law Lois Williamson Meyers of Middlesboro, Kentucky; sisters-in-law Pamela J. Meyers of Middlesboro, Kentucky and Peggy Benson of Middlesboro, Kentucky; brothers Kenny Kilgore (Diane) of Berea, Kentucky, James Killgore (Lucille) of Ponte Verda, Florida and John Kilgore of Middlesboro, Kentucky; son Daniel Kilgore of Harrogate, Tennessee; daughter Tanja Snodgrass (Robbie) of New Tazewell, Tennessee; granddaughters Kristen Ayers (Caleb) of New Tazewell, Tennessee and Kelly Brooks (Zack) of Maynardville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren Khloe Snodgrass, Colton Ayers, Landon Ayers, Kacen Brooks, Riley Ayers, Ansleigh Faye Brooks and Maddie Ayers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his church family, and special friends George and Pauline Wilkerson, Grover Jennings, and Diana Cole.  There are many more special friends that are too numerous to list individually.

Visitation will be from 6:00PM to 7:00PM on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at First Christian Church, 2130 W Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00PM at First Christian Church.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to First Christian Church (PO Box 971, Middlesboro, KY 40965) in lieu of flowers.

Green Hills Funeral Home, Middlesboro, is honored to serve the Kilgore Family.
