David Michael “Chub” Lewis, age 46, of Speedwell, Tennessee left this world too soon on February 21, 2025.
He was born in Tazewell, Tennessee on July 25, 1978, to the late Jim Lewis and Barbara Gibbs who survive.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Loma Lewis, maternal grandparents Ed and Iva Dean Russell, uncles David Russell and Johnny Lewis, aunt Regina McKinney, and step-sister Sue Ann Yee.
There are so few words to begin to describe David, and the wonderful man that he was. He was loved by all who were privileged to have made his acquaintance; he made you feel like his best friend upon first meeting him. A personality to light up any room, David was hilarious, funny and simply wonderful. A generous soul, David was the type of person who was secretly kind, not seeking attention or praise for his deeds. He demonstrated the love of Christ - giving unconditional love to everyone without reservation, and was simply a joy to be around.
David was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a graduate of Powell Valley High School and King College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He had a passion for music and was a gun enthusiast. All who were blessed to know Chub will remember his sweet smile, quick wit and his heart of gold, holding fast to the precious memories with him.
Left to cherish his memory, his mother Barbara Lewis Gibbs and her husband Leonard Gibbs, brothers Dean Lewis an his wife Laura, Doug Lewis and his wife Veronica, Amy Hatfield, the love of his life, nephews Doug Lewis and his wife Sammie, Hunter Lewis and his wife Elizabeth, Turner Lewis, and Cooper Lewis, nieces Caroline Lewis, Madison Lewis, and Savanna Sarmiento, step-sister Christy Smith and her children, uncles and aunts, Howard Lewis and wife Diane, Lorene Buttery, Carol Harville and husband Jewell, step-brothers Leonard Ray Gibbs and his wife Kelly, Randall Roy Gibbs and his wife Stacy, special friends Darren Wilson, Phillip Chumley, Eric Wolfenbarger, Travis Russell, Nathan Hinkley, Dino Smith, Tim Chumley, his beloved cat Moses, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and so many special friends who will miss him so dearly.
