Diana Chadwell, age 77, of Ewing, Virginia, passed away May 26, 2026 at the Claiborne Health and Rehab in Tazewell, Tennessee.
She was born on July 30, 1948 in Middlesboro, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late William and Tootsie Barnes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Chadwell, brother, Robbie “Bill” Barnes, sister, Sandy Black, and nephew, Jason Barnes.
Diana was a member of Gibson Station Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from Elydale Elementary School where she had worked as a teacher’s aide for over thirty years.
Left to cherish her memory, her daughter Vickie (Scottie) Nicely, step-daughter Sonya Chadwell, step-son Morgan Chadwell, brother Jimmy (Janice) Barnes, sister-in-law Sherry Epperson, brother-in-law Bruce Black, grandson Ethan Nicely, step-grandchildren Alisha Chadwell, Allie Olson, Kyle Olson, niece Leslie (Jason) Hunter, nephews Willie Roberts, Mike Roberts, Adam (Misty) Barnes, great-nieces Tiffany (C.J.) Snodgrass, Kylie Barnes, Ashley Roberts, Analeigh Barnes, great-nephews Deacon Barnes, Brantley Hunter, great-great-niece Amelia Snodgrass, great-great-nephew Cooper Hobbs, two special babies Colt and Kimber Pierce, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Claiborne Heath and Rehab, and Beacon Hospice for the excellent care that they gave Diana.
The family of Diana Chadwell will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Gibson Station Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 with Rev. Preston Smith and Rev. Gary Fletcher presiding. Music will be provided by Jimmy and Adam Barnes.
The family will meet for graveside services at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Barnes Family Cemetery in Ewing, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Adam Barnes, Ethan Nicley, Kyle Olson, Morgan Chadwell, Willie Roberts, and Jason Hunter.
