Emma Sue Martin Lasley, age 83, a resident of Middlesboro, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on September 14, 2024 at the Tri State Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born October 23, 1940 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Rudith and Edith Ramsey Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Lasley, brother Jerry Martin, sister and brother-in-law Alta and John Sowders, and mother and father-in-law Marcenia and William “Bill” Lasley.
In her earlier years, Sue began her career as a secretary for Perma Pipe, later transitioning to Duraline where she worked for many years. After which, she provided care for her husband Don for 40 years, while also caretaking for her parents, mother-in-law and grandchildren. Sue’s compassion and selflessness was evident through her ability to love and care for those around her. Soft spoken, patient and kind, Sue was an example of a Christian wife and mother, dedicating her affection and love to her family without condition.
Sue loved to cook and entertain her family and guests, and there was no holiday that she didn’t enjoy decorating for. She also found joy in flowers, and had a knack for beautiful décor, whether it be her flower bed or her year-round Christmas tree. Crafty with her hands, she had a gift of creating, and often sold her homemade items such as pillows, paintings, and cross-stitching for others to enjoy. Sue’s heart was equally as beautiful as the things she kept around her and the things that she made, and her family will forever be reminded of her love with every flower that blooms, holiday decoration, or craft that brought her so much joy.
Left to cherish her memory, loving children, daughter Shari Lasley Miller, son Greg Lasley and wife Connie, grandchildren William Jarod Lasley and wife Georganna, Grecia Nicole Lasley and fiancé Devon Moyers, Evan Martin Miller, sister-in-law Joanne Martin, nieces Debra Mella, Nancy Anderson, Sara Harrington, Dena Martin Faulkner, Jenny Adkins and Julie Gregory, as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her so dearly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to those who visited Sue faithfully, Mike Welch, James Dunn and Carol Russell, as well as her loving caretaker Dena Martin Faulkner.
