GEORGE YOAKUM JR.

George Horace Yoakum Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024.

He was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on May 1, 1943 to the late George and Cleo Kilgore Yoakum.

Junior loved cars, motorcycles and especially his dog. He proudly served his country during Vietnam in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by brother Don Yoakum and wife Ruth, sister Joann Blondell and husband Johnny, stepfather Hoy Cowan, niece Becky Harrell and special cousin Gabby Miller.

Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of 40 years, Linda Kay Yoakum, son Andy Yoakum and wife Lisa, step-daughter Chasitiy Price and husband Jeremy, step-sons Thomas Lee Gulley and wife Sharon, and James David Gulley, brother Mack Yoakum, sister Debbie Mayes and husband Roger, grandchildren Tyler (Lindsey) Yoakum, Taylor (Henry) Moore, Tennille Smith, Tabitha Smith, Cadence Brock, Kylie Brock, Sam (Cassandra) Gulley , Zach Gulley, Jessie Gulley and their mother Theresa Gulley, great-grandchildren Weston and Malaki, the mother of his son, Sue Yoakum, nieces and nephews Robby (Shea) Yoakum, Zena (Mark) McClain, Tammy (Pat) Anstett, Palmer (Hannah) Yoakum, Lindsey (Todd) Hall, Duke (Amy) Mayes, Katie (Travis) Seal, and Sarah Traynum as well as a host of many other relatives and friends too numerous to name, but all who will miss him dearly.

The family of Junior Yoakum will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Donnie Fox officiating and the reading of the obituary by Randy Burchett.  Piano music will be provided by Bruce Messer.

Graveside Services to immediately follow at the Mountainview Cemetery, Harrogate, Tennessee with Full Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Yoakum, Samuel Gulley, Zach Gulley, Jack Yoakum, Palmer Yoakum, Pat Anstett, Mark McClain, Duke Mayes, Chris Harrell, and Toby Wampler.
