GLENDA SMITH

Glenda Jean Bartley Smith, age 69, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was born August 15, 1953 in Pineville to the late Phalen and Vina Gilbert Bartley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Wanda Ross, and great nephew Noah Melton.

There are not enough words to describe what a wonderful and special woman Glenda was. A big heart so full of love, she never met a stranger. A ray of sunshine, Glenda could light up any room she entered. Forgiving, humble, and kind are just a few of the characteristics that made her so sweet. Mom and Mamaw are two titles that she wore proudly – she loved her family fiercely and enjoyed being with them every chance she got. She also loved the beach and seeing the ocean. Glenda made many friends and met so many people during her time as a Teller at First State Bank, retiring after 25 years. Most importantly, Glenda loved the Lord and was of the Pentecostal faith. All who have crossed paths with Glenda will forever cherish her sweet smile and spirit – leaving a lasting impression on everyone’s hearts.

Left to cherish her memory, daughters Brandi Muncy and husband Will, and Alicia Burnside and husband John, grandchildren Isaac Muncy and wife Sarah, Jordan Muncy, Shelby Smith, Connor Burnside, and Hayden Burnside and wife Allison, great-grandchildren Lucas James Muncy, Ava Burnside, Grey Burnside, and one baby boy on the way, father of her children Allen Smith, brother Jim Bartley, nieces and nephews Pam Smallwood and husband Tracy, Paula Daniels and husband Derek, Crystal Angel and husband William, and Leigh Bartley–Parente, great nephew Jalen Brewer, great niece Amber Baker and husband Josh, and their daughter Zoey, great nephew Trey Melton, her best friends, Mary Kay Mills and Francis Brooks, as well as a host of many other relatives and friends too numerous to name.

The family of Glenda Smith will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Bush officiating. Music will be provided by Jordan Muncy and Carl Muncy.

Graveside Services to immediately follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro, Kentucky.
