Jackie Hurst, age 78, of Frakes, Kentucky, went home to be with his Lord on January 16, 2026 while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 17, 1947 in Eagan, Tennessee to the late Pete and Ada Ruth Hatfield Hurst.
Jackie loved the Lord and enjoyed worshipping at Tracy Branch Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. Early in his life, he served his country proudly in the United States Army. He gave his all for his country, and his efforts were rewarded as he was a recipient of a Purple Heart for his dedication and service. Jackie later attended Cumberland College where he earned a Bachelors degree, then onto Union College to achieve a Masters and Rank I, furthering his professional career as a teacher, where he enjoyed teaching Mathematics at Middlesboro High School. He also had the accomplishment of being bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel.
In his spare time, Jackie had a love for classic and cool cars, going to various car shows all over. He especially loved loading up and road tripping with his best friend “Crazy” Bill Partin - they could always find a good car show (and maybe a little mischief), but it promised to be a fun time that Jackie so thoroughly enjoyed.
Left to cherish his memory, brother Eddie Hurst and wife Linda Gail, sisters Patsy Sue Miracle and husband Earnest, Linda Lou Luken and special friend Roy Kohlem, nephews Peter (Marissa) Miracle, Brian (Sarah) Hurst, John (Amy) Hurst, great niece Hunter Ann Hurst, special great nephew John Noah Hurst, great nephew Wyatt Hurst, very special friend Sandra Smith, Joy (Wayne) Brock and Gage Brock, who Jack considered a grandson, Amy (John) Hurst, as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family of Jackie Hurst will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bernley Lambdin and Kevin Turner officiating.
Graveside Services will immediately follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Bill Partin, Brian Hurst, John Hurst, Wyatt Hurst, Thomas Bastic and Jim Davis.
