JAMES CORNISH

James Arthur Cornish, age 53, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, passed away on January 13, 2025.

He was born in St. Louis Missouri on May 12, 1971 to the late Maylene Robbins Strunk.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son Travis Cornish.

James was a true outdoorsman; he loved camping, trail riding on his ATV and shooting guns. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed competing in fishing tournaments. Above his love for nature and being in it, he adored his family, especially his grandkids. James was a wonderful grandfather to his babies and devoted his time, love and affection toward them.

To know James was to love him, and it didn’t take long to know him because he never met a stranger. Whether you were life long friends or just met, James made everyone feel welcome and right at home. He loved to crack jokes and make others laugh – putting a smile on everyone’s face. He also liked listening to music and just enjoying the simple things in life. His family, many friends and all those who crossed paths with James will miss him so much.

Left to cherish his memory, children Tyler Cornish (Stephanie), Ashley Cornish and Jesse Cornish (Jenna), grandchildren Mackenzie, Aaron, Britley, Riley, Lanie, JT, Jesse Jr. and Josie, brothers and sisters William “Bubba” Strunk, April Strunk, John Strunk and Huey Rogers, Uncle Mike Robbins, special niece Amber Jo Rogers and her children, mother of his children Tammy Cornish and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family of James Cornish will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will follow at 6:30 p.m.
