JAMES PERRY Obituary

James E. Perry, Jr. age 88, a lifelong resident of Pathfork, Kentucky passed away June 24, 2026 at the Hazard A.R.H. Hospital.

He was born on February 7, 1938 in Pathfork, Kentucky and was the son of the late James E. and Josie Manies Perry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious, loving wife, Charlene Marie Carroll Perry, brother, Claude Perry, SP4 U.S. Army, K.I.A. Vietnam, Silver Star, and sisters, Elisa Strunk and Mildred Lawson.

James loved his community and was very active volunteering his time with the Harlan County Community Action Agency, other community projects and churches, and especially Black Star Pentecostal Church where he was an active member for almost 60 years.  In addition to his love for his Church and Community, James loved his family and worked very hard providing for them.

Once he completed High School, he went to Chicago to find work and was there for 11 years where  he worked for Sears and Western Electric. Once back home in Pathfork, he worked for LP Gas, Coca Cola, National Electric Coil, setting up mobile homes, and as a furniture salesman. His dedication through hard work left a profound legacy that remains today within the Pathfork community, the churches he loved to attend and worship, and his family he was so proud of.

He leaves behind his sons, Karl Everette Perry, Darrell Edward Perry, and Kevin Wayne Perry, daughter-in-law, Melissa Renee Perry, brothers, Jimmy Perry and Dewell Perry, sisters, Patricia Barnett, Dora Helton, and Rosa Lee Hensley, grandchildren, Sarah Rose Perry, Seth Ian James Perry, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family of James Everett Perry, Jr. will receive friends Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Stepp and Rev. Jerome Cox presiding.  Music will be provided by Marjoretta Moore.

Family and friends will meet at Green Hills Funeral Home on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. to follow in procession to Saylor Cemetery in Pathfork, Kentucky for 11:00 a.m. graveside services.
