JAMES SMITH

James Harold Smith, age 80, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2024 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

He was born on March 21, 1944 in Morley, Tennessee, to the late James E. and Evelyn York Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce Faye Smith, brothers Ulyses Gene "Jabo" Smith and Jimmy Lee Smith, niece Jennifer Smith Lee, and brother-in-law Marvin Miller.

James was a member of the Baptist faith and an active member of Northside Baptist Church. Many know James from his 37 years of work at Carquest Autoparts. James was loved by all who knew him and always put a smile on everyone's face. He always found the fun in everything he did whether he was warming up pizza (the great microwave event of the 90's), talking about working on cars with his grandson, watching his granddaughter dance, singing "Let It Go" with special friend Ava Brock, or having a victory Klondike bar after a Kentucky Wildcats win with his sons. He left an imprint on all of our lives, and we are all better for knowing him and being loved by him.

Left to cherish his memory, are his sons Steven Smith and Greg (Kim) Smith, Grandchildren Stephanie (Derrick) Lindsay, Cameron (Chloe Paul) Smith, and Makenna Smith, Great Granddaughter Ivy James Lindsay, Siblings Alvie (Martha) Smith, Bill (Bonnie) Smith, Carolyn (Danny) Patterson, Sisters-in-law Doris "Ann" Smith, Barbara Smith, and Georgie Harris, Special Friend Darlene Fuson and family, as well as a host of other family and many friends who will miss him dearly.

The family of James Smith with receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Hoskins officiating. Music will be provided by the Lighthouse Singers.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens Gazebo Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Smith, Shawn Smith, Derrick Lindsay, Todd Smith, Van Ball, Brandyn Ball, Austin Brock, and Scotty Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Cory Smith, Josh Smith and Michael Smith.
