JANICE WARF

Loving wife and mother, Janice Kay Warf (Hounshel), age 68, of Ewing, Virginia has gone to her Heavenly rest. She left us on Friday, May 19, 2023.

Janice was born in Monroe, Michigan, but spent her entire life in the Ewing, Virginia area. Janice was a stay-at-home mom, so she could spend as much time with her children as she could before they went on to school and their adult lives.

Janice was known for having a warm and welcoming home where she would feed anybody who needed a warm meal. She never missed an opportunity to make a large meal and invite anybody who was available to break bread together. Her hands were always busy – busy tilling the garden, hand sewing beautiful quilts, and loving her family. Janice was known for her hand-made quilts, and there is no way to know exactly how many homes and families have been warmed and comforted by her love. Proverbs 31:13 says a good woman works willingly with her hands, and Janice took that to heart. She found comfort attending services at Gibson Station Primitive Baptist Church.

Janice is survived by her husband Steve Warf of Ewing, VA; her son Chris Warf (Jana Warf) of Bristol, TN; daughter Nichole Warf (Mike Gartin) of Bristol, TN; and granddaughter Kayla Sanford (Ethan Sanford) of Bristol, TN. She is also survived by brothers Carson Hounshel (Bonnie Hounshel) of Ewing, VA; Willis Hounshel of Ewing, VA; and sisters Lana Beatty of Ewing, VA; and Anita Hall (Bill Hall) of Barbourville, KY. Janice is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Bertha Hounshel, sister Wilma Mills, sister-in-law Janice Hounshel, brothers-in-law Jimmy Mills and Charles Beatty.

The family of Janice Warf will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the Southern Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at Green Hills Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. to follow in procession.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Doug Hill, Alan Hill, Matt Hounshel, Shannon Hounshel, Dwayne Hounshel, and Travis Mills.
