Jerry Wayne Evans, born February 20th, 1952 departed this world on May 4,2026.
He was blessed with an amazing gift for music. He played lead guitar with the Evans Family during his teenage years. At the age of 17, he began playing lead guitar at Silver Dollar City (Dollywood)and played with the Country Kings on a regional TV station. He played with Don and Steve Gulley, Charlie Dummit and The Sound of Gospel, The Gospelaires, Tim Goshen and The Believers, and other gospel groups. He was part of the staff band at Renfro Valley playing lead guitar and steel guitar. His musical gift from God gave many opportunities to witness, meet many people, and make life long friends. He was a member of Pump Springs Baptist Church where he contributed his musical talent to the Praise Team for several years. He peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family.
He is preceded in death his parents Earl Evans and Mary Bernice Evans, his sister Judy “Vicki” Davis. He also was preceded in death by his two brothers-in-law Dean and Carl Anders.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Viola Ann Evans. Children :Harley ( Carly Rabbeth)Evans, Cody (Kaci Singleton)Evans, and Karri (Josh) Ledford. Sister: Nancy Dianne (David) Scraggs. Brother -in-law Dr. Charles(Karen) Anders and sister-in-law Connie(Carl) Anders. Grandchildren: Jimmy Ledford, Lydia Ledford, and Gideon Ledford. Nieces and Nephews: Joy (Robert) Miller, Christi (Scott) Sorrell, Steven Helton, Rob Anders,Carla Anders,Chelsea Whitson, Jason Anders and Valerie Mosley, Great Nephews: Aiden Sorrell and Lincoln Sorrell; Cousins :Carl Evans, Regina (son Cody)Evans, Dale Evans, Angie Evans; and a host of many family and friends too numerous to mention but not forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Pump Springs Baptist Church in Harrogate ,Tennessee on Thursday, May 7 2026. Receiving of friends to begin at 4pm to 7pm and the Celebration of Life to begin at 7pm. Dr John Ditty and Rev Tim Goshen officiating. Special music by Cindy Morgan and The Evans Family(produced by Jerry Evans).
Burial will be the following day, Friday, May 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Town Creek Cemetery in Speedwell Tn. The family will meet at 10:00 a.m. at Pump Springs Baptist Church to go in procession at 10:45 a.m.
