JOEY BRITTON

Joey Lynn Britton, passed away on Wednesday February 4 , 2026 at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Joey was born November 29, 1961 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the marriage of Donald Ray Britton and Barbara Sue Sandifer Britton. He was saved at a early age and a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, he was Baptised by his Grandfather Reverend Bill Britton.

Joey was a 1980 graduate of Thomas Walker High School. He was a truck driver most of his adult life . He was forced to retire as a driver for JOVIDA Truck Company in 2023 due to a serious illness.

With his death Joey is able to help burn victims heal quicker with skin grafts and those people with vision difficulties be able to improve their sight .

Thanks to the staff at Ridgecrest Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center , Duffield, Virginia for their great care, comfort, friendliness to Joey.

Preceding Joey in death were his parents, Don and Barbara Britton; Grandparents: Reverend Bill and Eula Britton , Paris and Odell Sandifer ; Uncles and Aunts : Wayne and Myrtle Britton, Bill and Ruth Sandifer , Doyle and Janet Sandifer , Earl and Edith Sandifer , James Sandifer, Ancil Sandifer, Junior and Opal Williams , Inez Brooks, Patsy Ayers , Reverand Johnny Bussell, Frank Sumpter.

Surviving Uncles and Aunts : Wayne and Beverly Sandifer, Bobbie Bussell, Bonnie Sumpter, Kay Sandifer, Suzette Sandifer, Dickie and Joyce Siler, Steve and Vickie Britton , J.B.and Nancy Britton. Joey also leaves behind numerous cousins, relatives and special friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 9, 2026 at the Green Hills Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Boyd Bingham officiating.  Music will be provided by Mr. Dickie Siler.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the Shoffner Cemetery on Indian Creek Road, in Harrogate, Tennessee.

Honorary Pallbearers: John, Vivian, Dakota, Alan, Doug, Craig, Sally, Nancy, Paul, Kay ,Greg, Nancy ,Kim, Mindy, Rhonda, Russ, Tam, Joe , Brittany, Samantha and Paula.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made in Joey’s honor to the charity of your choice.
