JOHNNY MILLER Obituary

Johnny Lynn Miller, 68 passed away Monday, August 2, 2021. 

He was born October 9, 1952 in Hulen, Kentucky to the late Fred Miller and Dorothy Lynn Hall.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Grandmother “Mammy” Hattie Wilson, Brother Delbert Miller and Sister Lisa Miller Hall.

 

Johnny served his country proudly in the United States Army where He obtained the rank of Sergeant.  He was a marksman with the rifle and expert with the pistol, he was also a golden glove boxer.  He was a paratrooper and military policeman.  During his service as a military policeman he was assigned to security detail of President Jimmy Carter during one of his visits.

 

Johnny was of the Baptist faith.  He was also an excellent guitar player.  Even turning down offers to be Pam Tillis’ guitar player, choosing rather to raise his family, which was his greatest enjoyment.  He absolutely adored his children and grandchildren; in his eyes they did no wrong.  Johnny worked hard to provide for his family, holding several different professions as a police officer, heavy equipment operator and truck driver.

 

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Mary Lynn Miller, Daughters Shelly Miller(Kris Malchoff), Shannon Miller Lamb (Ricky), Stephanie Miller (Jonathan Robertson), Veronica Brooks (Mike), Melinda Honeycutt (Mark), Son Ralph Blackburn (Lora), Sisters Ruth Miller Sandifer, Kelly Miller Reece(Tom), Grandchildren Ashley Cornett(Chris), Amber Young(Kyle), Seth Dehart, Tatum Shupe, Jonathan Miller, Cassie Brooks, Matthew Brooks, Hayden Blackburn, Chesney Blackburn, Sydney Honeycutt, Great Grandchildren Kinsley Cornett, Trinity Cornett, Melody Young, Isabel Young, Goddaughter Hailey Reece and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

The family of Johnny Miller will receive 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Green Hills Funeral Home.

 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920 with full military honors presented by the Jellico Honor Guard.
