Obituary

Joseph Steven Gregory “Steve” Mayes I, age 46, of Clinton, Tennessee passed away April 19, 2022.  Steve was born December 8, 1975 to Gary Mayes and Mary Taylor who are left to mourn his passing.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents and his stepfather, Jerry Taylor.

In addition to his parents, Steve is survived by his wife Betty Mayes, sons Joseph Steven Gregory Mayes II and wife Amber, and Jacob Sterling Mayes, daughters Brittany Zane Mayes (Brayden Singletary), Erin Nicole Mayes (Ani), and Mattie Grace Mayes, brothers Gary Mayes II, and Matthew Mayes, sisters Caroline Mayes Cooper and husband Michael, Jill Baker and husband Steve, and Starr Cooper, nieces Molly and Ava Cooper, and grandchildren Levi Everett and Alice Noelle Mayes, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Steve was a believer of the Baptist faith and was active with community sports.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed his motorcycle and working on cars. Steve was a big cut up and loved to make people laugh.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Green Hills Funeral Home. 

Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Terry Morgan presiding. 

Interment will immediately follow at the Marsee Cemetery in the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
