JUDY ELY

Judy Lynn Brimm Ely, age 72, was born on July 30, 1949 and went to her eternal home on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the home of her daughter after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Judy graduated from Middlesboro High School in 1967 and from Lincoln Memorial University in 1978 where she earned a degree as a Registered Nurse. Judy enjoyed working in various capacities throughout her professional career until retiring in 2015 after more than 35 years of nursing service.

Judy is preceded in death by her daughter Tonya Kay Ely; parents Clarence “Tug” Brimm and Maggie Hunley Brimm; father and mother-in-law William Porter Ely and Ethel Sowders Ely; brothers Jimmie Clayton Brimm; Earl David Brimm and wife Brenda Sue Burchfield Brimm; brothers-in-law Eugene Frazier and Carl Burchfield; sisters-in-law Betty Ely; Marjorie Hodge and husband James; Evelyn Peters and husband Gene; brothers-in-law Edward Ely, Porter “Tom” Ely, Kenneth Ely and wife Mabe; Willard Ely and wife Opal; Henry “HR” Ely and wife Candy.

Judy is survived by her husband of 54 years James Ronald “Ronnie” Ely; daughter Sonya Ely England and husband Robert; son Richard Wayne Ely; sisters Peggy Sue Frazier and Brenda Kay Burchfield; grandchildren Robert “Chris” England, Candace Lynn England, and Halie Diane Ely; great-grandchildren Blake Evans, Steven Hoover, and Bradley England; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Green Hills Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Dr. Macel Ely officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and niece:  Candace, Halie, Blake, Steven, Bradley, and Jennifer Ferguson.
