Larry Gene Davis, age 75, of Clairfield, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center following a brief illness.
Larry was a member of the Clairfield Missionary Baptist Church. He was one of 12 children, born on March 19, 1950 to Robert and Mary Edna Partin Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mildred, Reba, and Jacqueline, and brothers Charles “Big Boy”, Wayne, Ray, Lonnie, Tommy, and Donnie.
He is survived by his brother, Roy Davis (Louise), his sister, Kathleen Baggett (Robbie), sisters-in-law Janice, Joann, and Barbara, and a host of nieces, relatives, other family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Larry was born and raised on the family farm in Clairfield. He worked for the postal service and served as caregiver for both of his parents, moving back to the farm to take care of Bob after Edna’s death.
Larry was musically talented, playing saxophone in the Jellico High School marching band and serving as drum major. He loved playing the piano, which he did beautifully, and sang and played for the church for many years. He had a deep Christian faith.
Larry loved nature, and enjoyed trips to the Smokies, as well as rambling the mountains closer to home.
Larry was the person in the family who worked to maintain the family connections – keeping in contact with the children of his late brothers after they died, seeking out nieces and nephews who had lost touch, offering to help family members if they needed it, keeping in touch with his own generation of cousins, maintaining the family property, and hosting reunions. Larry was loved and will be deeply missed.
