LARRY ERNEST "SQUEAK" ESTEP

Larry Ernest “Squeak” Estep, was born on July 25, 1945, and went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2026, at Middlesboro ARH Hospital, with loved ones by his side. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Ernest and Helen Estep. A few years later, he moved to Harrogate, Tennessee, where he made his home for the rest of his life. He was saved as a young boy at Big Spring Union Church, and his childhood was filled with adventure alongside his siblings and cousins.

Squeak proudly served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice.

After returning home, he married the love of his life, Joyce, and together they raised two sons. He dedicated nearly 40 years of service to Apollo Fuels, where he took great pride in his work and built many lasting friendships.

Squeak was an avid outdoorsman with a deep love for hunting and fishing. He was especially passionate about firearms and was well known for his skills in sighting rifles. Each fall, many local hunters relied on him to help prepare their rifles for the season.

Squeak was selfless and never turned a person away in a time of need. More than anything, he treasured the friendships he built through trading, conversation, and shared interests. He will be remembered for his kindness, his talents, and his lasting impact on all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen Estep; his brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Nancy Estep, his sister Gail Amis, and his son, Charlie Compton.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Estep; his son, Todd (Debra) Estep; his sisters, Suzette Sandifur, and Vickie Estep, his grandchildren, Shanda (Curtis) Killion, Robie Ingram, and April Burt; his great-grandchildren, Colin, Braxton, Taylor, Ryker, Rion, and Maverick; his special cousin Clydie Burchette; and a special friend. Chester Ellison, many nieces and nephews along with a host of other family and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt, Thank You to special friends and neighbors, Edward and Laura Gilkerson, as well as the ICU nurses at Middlesboro ARH Hospital, for their care and support during this difficult time.

The family of Larry Estep will be Celebrating his Life at 1:00 p.m. on May 2, 2026 at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, 4000 Forge Ridge Rd., Harrogate, Tennessee, 37752.
