LINDA KAY YOAKUM

Linda Kay Messer Yoakum, age 74, of Corbin, Kentucky, went home to be with her Savior on March 10, 2026.

She was born January 20, 1952 to the late James “Jim” Messer and Mollie Messer who survives.

Linda simply enjoyed life and she loved people. A heart of gold, Linda never saw the wrong in people, but rather always looked for the good in them – encouraging and uplifting them with a kind word or her sweet smile.

In her professional life, she let that love for others carry over into her work as a Nurse. She not only took care of seeing to others emotional needs, but she nurtured and tended to their physical as well.

A Christian woman who loved the Lord, she thoroughly enjoyed reading God’s word, studying it, and applying it to her life. The commandment we are given to love one another was evidently displayed in Linda’s life.

Linda loved her family deeply and never missed a moment to be together enjoying each other’s company. She especially enjoyed time spent with her precious grandchildren who were her world.

A heart of gold, a sweet smile and true, pure joy flowed from Linda – a bright light to all around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and those who were fortunate to receive the nurturing love she so freely gave.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband George Yoakum Jr., the father of her children Orville Lynn Gulley, and brother Paul Edward Messer.

Left to cherish her memory, her mother Mollie Messer, daughter Chasitiy Price and husband Jeremy, sons Thomas Lee Gulley and wife Sharon, James David Gulley, stepson Andy Yoakum and wife Lisa, sister Jimmie Sue Woods, brother David Milton Messer and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Tennille Smith, Tabitha Fultz, Cadence Brock, Kylie Brock, Samuel Gulley, Zach Gulley and Jessie Gulley, great-grandchildren Weston Jack Stewart, Levi Brooks Stewart and Tate Samuel Gulley, aunt Vinnia Lou Messer Warren, as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family of Linda Yoakum will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Order of the Eastern Star Rites will be given with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2026 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Donnie Fox presiding. Piano will be provided by Mr. Bruce Messer.

Graveside Service will immediately follow at the Mountainview Cemetery, Harrogate, Tennessee.
