Lucinda Marie “Sam” Upton went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2026. She spent her last days at U.K. Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky fighting cancer.
She was born on September 25, 1971 in Tazewell, Tennessee. Lucinda was of the Baptist faith and truly believed in the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chris Upton, her grandparents Stewart and Evangeline Fultz and Andy and Janie Dyer.
She leaves behind her loving mother Maxine Cheek and father Leroy Cheek of Harrogate, Tennessee, brothers James Wade Dyer and David Dyer, aunts Jewell Mink and Norma Leonard, uncle Jack Fultz, two very best friends Callie Spangler and Missy Lamb, special sister-in-law Melissa Upton, and a host of cousin, other relatives, and many friends who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff at U.K. Hospital for the wonderful care that they gave to our precious Lucinda.
The family of Lucinda Upton will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Fultz officiating. Music will be provided by Marina Irvin.
Graveside Services to immediately follow in the Greer Cemetery in New Tazewell, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Cheek, Ezekiel Bohne, Johnny Leonard, Melvin Irvin, and Gary Lamb.
