MELVIN BOLTON Obituary

Mr. Melvin Bolton, age 89, a resident of Pineville, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 27, 1932 in Little Clear Creek, son of the late Lawrence and Glenna Wilder Bolton.

There are not enough words, nor enough lines to describe what a wonderful man Melvin was and how meaningful the impact his life has made. Melvin accomplished so much throughout his professional careers, beginning with 13 years’ service in the United States Air Force. After serving his country he operated the Gulf Service Station which he enjoyed. He also proudly worked at the Bell County Sherriff’s Office as a Deputy under Sherriff Monk Green. Later, he became actively involved in and around the Kentucky coal mining industry. He owned and operated King and Bolton Coal Company and became President of the Lowland Coals (METEC) in Lexington, Kentucky where they specialized and were responsible for High Wall Miners. Melvin belonged to the Pineville Booster’s Club and the Sportmart Crew. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing a round of golf. In his latter years, Melvin enjoyed sitting in town in his vehicle people watching and talking with passersby. All who were blessed to have known Melvin will forever remember the life that Melvin lived and the exceptional man that he was.

Those surviving and preceeding him in death, loving wife Ms. Linda Bolton of Pineville, KY., devoted daughter Ms. Sherry Bolton of Harrogate, TN., sisters, the late Edith and husband Melvin Money of Clear Creek, KY., the late Dorothy Davis and husband Earl of Shawanee, TN., and Margie Austin and husband Don of Murfreesboro, TN., their children (nieces and nephews), the late Wayne Money, Melvin Lee Money of Pineville, KY., Jackie Bolton Monhollen and husband Brian of Tazewell, TN., Donald Bolton of Tazewell, TN., Brad Davis of Tazewell, TN., Jeff Davis of Shawanee, TN., and Karen Plaisance and husband Jerry of Murfreesboro, TN., sister and brother-in-law, the late Sue Laws and husband Don of Lafollette, TN., their children (nieces and nephews) Jane Laws Broyles of Bogart, GA., Nancy Vanbever and husband Chris of Lexington, KY., Donald Laws and wife Michelle of Georgetown, KY., special friends Raymond Wilder, Bill Patterson, Ted Wilder, John Combs, and Biff Madon, as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
