MICHAEL "SPEEDY" COLLETT

Michael “Speedy” Collett, age 48, of Arjay, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2021.

He was born on August 31, 1973 in Hyden, KY to the late Ewell Collett and Polly Hall Southern who survives. Michael was a wonderful Son, Brother and Friend to all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers James Collett and Dean Collett, sister Patricia Whitney, special niece Jennifer Smith, grandson Charlie Upton and great niece Neveah King.

Left to cherish his memory, loving mother Polly Southern, step father Clarence Patterson, sister Mary Collett and her boyfriend Steve Warren who was more like a brother to Michael, sister Nina Collett, brother Danny Collett (Tonia), brother Benny Collett (Beverly), companion for life Joann Cox, children Misty Upton (Jeff Hollingsworth), Jeremy Gross (Dannie) and Ashley Gross, grandchildren Ryan Hollingsworth and Remi Gross, special nieces and nephews Chris Smith (Pammy Bowman), Tommy Smith (Nicole Wilder), Joey Smith (Kelly) and Cynthia Bailey (Wesley Thomas) great nieces and nephews Kaelyn, Lexie, Blaiton and Brooklynn Smith, Ali Bailey, Makenzie and Kierra Bays, and Everly Thomas, special friends Danny Cox, John L. Cox, Chris Cox, Travis Cox, John Weinbrenner,  Willie Collett, Justin Miller, Jacob Miller and Kayden Miller, his special four legged friend Little Bit who he loved more than anything, as well as a host of many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Michael Lawson with Lawson Trucking for his generous love, support and help during this very difficult time.

The family of Michael Collett will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside Services will immediately follow at Smith Cemetery, Middlesboro, Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be Danny Cox, John L. Cox, Willie Collett, Tommy Smith, Chris Smith, Joey Smith, Jeffery Clark, Steve Warren and Wesley Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Green Hills Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
