Pearl Gregory Newport, 95, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Baptist Hospital in Corbin. She was born April 1, 1931, at Little Clear Creek, and was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Jane Warren Gregory.
Pearl was known above all for being an exceptional cook with an open-door policy that there was always room at the table, especially for Sunday dinner after church. She cherished time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church, where she was the Sunday School clerk for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 71 years, JC Newport; her grandson, Dr. Gregory Newport; brothers Otis, H. L., George Jr, Warren, and Wilburn; sisters Mary Fuson and Lester Burkes, and sister-in-law Hattie Gregory.
Survivors include her children, Chris (Kathy) Newport, Teresa Newport, Danny (Renee) Newport, and Kim Newport; grandchildren, Heather Newport (Bo) Hinkle, Amy Toms, Gary (Daniella) Toms, Jennifer Newport (Jeremy) Balitz, and Patrick (Brittani) Newport; great-grandchildren, Blake and Trevor Stephenson, Chandler, Kylie, and Savannah Hinkle, Gia Toms, Ryker and Nash Balitz, and Landon and Adelynn Newport; and sister-in-law Phyllis Gregory.
The family of Pearl Newport will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Green Hills Funeral Home in Middlesboro, with the Rev. Mark Hunter presiding. Music provided by Lisa Hyatt.
Interment will be held in the Fuson Chapel Cemetery at Little Clear Creek immediately following the funeral service. Pallbearers are Blake Stephenson, Trevor Stephenson, Darrell Miracle, Casey Miracle, Larry Hall, JE Dunn, and Patrick Newport.
