Roland York, age 92, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Middlesboro A.R.H. while surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 18, 1929 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Charlie York.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather Sam “Pap” York, and grandson Justin Jenkins.
Roland was a wonderful and loving Husband, Father, and Friend. He was a storyteller and loved to talk with people. He was a proud Firefighter serving with the Middlesboro Fire Department, where he retired in 1988.
Left to cherish his memory, loving wife Robirdia Hurst York, loving daughter and caregiver Rolanda Sue York, loving daughter Deborah Jenkins, granddaughter Tabitha Pake, great-grandchildren Arianna, Brianna, Christina, Dennis, Eliana, Alyssa, and Shannen Jenkins, special nephew whom he thought of as a son, Mike Hurst, as well as a host of many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Middlesboro Cemetery.
A processional with the Middlesboro Fire Department will meet at Green Hills Funeral Home at 12:15 p.m., leading Roland in the fire engine through the city in honor of his many years of service.
Pallbearers will be the Middlesboro Fire Department.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Roland’s doctors who are more like family, Dr. C.A. Moore and Dr. C.C. Moore, as well as the wonderful staff of Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice and Amedysis, especially Lori Ann, Josh, and Rhonda.
