Scott “Mex” Martinez, 49, passed away on March 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Born on May 29, 1975, Mex was a man whose heart was as big as the world—full of kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for those around him.
Mex was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed by his wife, Jenny Lee; his daughter, EmmaLee Robbins (Keyontae Nelson); his father-in-law, Jerry Lee; his brother-in-law, Jerry Lee (Tim Mills); his brother-in-law, Jason Lee (Kristy Carder); and his niece, Jaslyn Lee. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Gil, mother-in-law, Karen Sue Lee and Grandmother Angie Edds.
A hardworking and loyal coal miner, Mex took great pride in his work and dedicated himself to providing for his family. He was proud to be part of the team at Nally & Hamilton, where he formed a strong bond with his work family. Mex never shied away from a hard day’s work, and his dedication and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Mex had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His humor, generosity, and larger-than-life presence left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him. His love for his family and friends was endless, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
He shared a special friendship with Bobby and Arlena Wilder, Kenny and Helen Carter, Todd and Claudette Reynolds, and Austin Brown, who stood by his side through life’s ups and downs. Their bond was a testament to the kind of friend Mex was—loyal, dependable, and always ready with a joke or a helping hand.
“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart.” – Luke 6:45
Though he may no longer be with us, Mex’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of love, loyalty, and hard work will never be forgotten.
