Shirley Asher Murphy, age 84 of Harrogate, Tennessee, passed away at the Parkwest Medical Center on February 12, 2025.
She was born in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Caleb Asher and Marie Smith Asher.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Betty Lee and her brother Tommy Asher.
Shirley, a Bell native, was a graduate of Bell County High School. She had a career at Kanawah Steel that spanned over 25 years where she made many friends and connections with her work family and the many people in the coal mining industry who she considered dear friends. After her retirement, she was most content being at home with her fur babies Blue and Penny.
She leaves behind Kenneth Denver Murphy, her devoted husband of 60 years, son Ken Murphy and daughter-in-law Shelia Murphy, step-mother Betty Asher, sisters Patty Meadows, Chidsey Grace, and Debbie Thompson, brothers Sonny Asher, Joe Asher, and Tim Asher, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends at Green Hills Funeral Home on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel.
