Shirley Jean Underwood, age 83, a resident of Tazewell, Tennessee passed away November 1, 2024, at her home with her family at her side.
She was born in Red Bird, Kentucky on December 17, 1940, the late Garrett and Margie Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Horace David Underwood, her precious husband of 21 years, son Jeffery Dean Underwood, brothers Garrett (Bunny) Jackson, Hershal Jackson, Ernest Jackson, granddaughters Tiffany Sue Anglin and Ashley Grace, great granddaughters Lanie Grace, Piper Rose Masters, and Brooklyn Roesch.
Shirley was a quiet, kind, loving woman. She proudly served her country in the United States Marine Corps. She cherished her family and was a loving mother and grandmother. Her happiest times were spent with her family. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing. Shirley was of the Baptist faith and had a great appreciation for gospel music.
She leaves behind her sons James Edward Grace, Johnathan Wayne (Faith) Grace, Michael Lynn (Melinda) Grace, Allen Ray (Lisa) Underwood, David Stanley (Tammy) Underwood, daughter Sherry Ann (Donnie) Scott, brothers Robert Jackson, Luther Jackson, Charles Jackson, Jerry Jackson, sister Mary Hurst, 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family of Shirley Underwood will receive friends Monday, November 4, 2024, at Green Hills Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. noon at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Eddie Johnson and Rev. Adam Gulley presiding.
Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors presented by the Jellico Honor Guard.
Brandon Scott, Kane Scott, Cody Grace, J J Grace, Timothy Underwood, and David Underwood will serve as pallbearers.
