Thelma “Pelty” Osban, age 83, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2025.
She was born in Middlesboro on December 1, 1941 to the late Harvey “Bunny” and Mary Elizabeth Crawford Barnett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Ed Osban, children Debra Givens and Fred Osban, brothers Rev. Doyle Barnett, and Norman Barnett, and sister Willie Jean Owens.
Thelma loved the Lord and going to church to worship. Having a green thumb, Thelma was an excellent gardener and grew the most beautiful flowers. Her favorite flower that she most enjoyed was roses. In every flower that blooms, those who loved Thelma will be reminded of her love and will cherish the sweet memories shared with her.
An exceptional cook, Thelma, made sure everyone was well fed with a good, hot meal. Her labor of love was taking care of others through her cooking. Whether she used her hands to prune and tend to her garden, or make a home cooked meal, Thelma’s labors were done with others in mind.
Left to cherish her memory, children Eddie Osban, Ted Osban and Rev. John Osban, sisters Cleo Metts, Bernice Helton and husband Gary, NevilleAnn Barton and husband Mark and Jennifer Scheider and husband Michael, special granddaughters who were her caretakers, Sierra Hall and husband Jesse and Kaitlyn Givens, as well as a host of many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to name, but all who will miss her so dearly.
The family of Thelma Osban will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Osban officiating. Music will be provided by NevilleAnn Barton.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Yellow Hill Cemetery at Mt. Mary’s, Middlesboro, Kentucky.
