Vivian Ayers Black, age 88, of Ewing, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2026 while surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born November 22, 1937 in Ewing to the late Charlie and Virgie Powell Ayers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Black, brothers Chester Ayers, Clayton Ayers and Charles Ayers, and sister Ella Jean Mills.
At an early age Vivian accepted Jesus into her heart at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Ewing, Virginia. She had a faithful love and testimony not only for the Lord, but for her family as well. She adored spending time with her family and simply being in their presence. She also enjoyed God’s beauty – especially flowers – and watching them in bloom.
Vivian had a gift with her hands, whether it was cooking a delicious meal, crafting or quilting, she had a talent to make beautiful work from nothing. With every blooming flower, homecooked meal or handwoven quilt, Vivian’s testament of love will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who loved her so dear.
Left to cherish her sweet memory, sons Bruce Black and Oscar Eldridge Jr., daughters Patricia K. Black and Pamela Eldridge, brother Louis and Sheila Ayers of Harrogate, TN., sisters Annie Cunningham, Verda Ayers and Lois Ayers all of Ewing, VA., 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family of Vivian Black will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Zumbrum and Rev. KJ Zumbrum presiding.
