WAYNOKA "NOKE" WYLIE Obituary

Waynoka Lynn Roberts Wylie, age 59, a resident of Tazewell, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 3, 2026 while surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on December 10, 1966 to Jerald and Rozetta Creech Roberts.

Big, bright, shining blue eyes and a sweet smile were the first two things you were greeted with when you met Waynoka. Noke or Nokie, as many knew her by, had a heart full of gold that shined as bright as her eyes did. She had the ability to turn strangers quickly into friends, and to make others feel welcomed, seen and loved.

Noke accepted Jesus as her Savior at the young age of 9 years old at Vacation Bible School at Binghamtown Baptist Church. She attended there for many years throughout her life and was a member at Blair’s Creek Baptist Church. The love of Christ was evident in her ways, her life and the love she in-turn flowed to those around her.

She served the Lord in many ways, but most notably her ministry was in the tender care she poured to patients through her work as an OR Nurse. She absolutely loved her career – a lengthy one at that- having worked alongside her “work family” for 40 years at Claiborne Medical Center since 1985. The relationships she forged with her patients were special, and often many would recognize her without a mask because they couldn’t forget those beautiful blue eyes. However, the bond she had with her coworkers was one she considered as sacred as her family.

When Noke wasn’t working her dream job, you could find her outdoors. Camping, fishing, being on the lake and hiking with her husband Rick were some of her favorites. Traveling to various hiking spots and exploring the world were experiences that she adored. When she wasn’t on the trails, it goes without saying that she was at the beck and call of her granddaughter, Kaylynn. Noke wore the title of “Nene” proudly, and whatever adventure Kaylynn wanted to tackle next, right there was Nene with the biggest grin on her face.

That sweet grin, those bright eyes and her easy love for others are just a few of the precious qualities that are quintessentially Noke. Those are the sweet moments and memories that we will hold to with such fondness and joy until we are greeted by them again.

She was preceded by in death by her beloved sister, Dede Killion, grandparents Tyrus and Dorothy Creech and Brent and Jeanette Roberts, and father and mother-in-law Bobby and Jessie Wylie.

Left to cherish her memory, loving husband of 42 years, Ricky Wylie, daughter Jessica Ogle and husband Jeremy, parents Jerald and Rozetta Roberts, granddaughter Kaylynn Ogle and another grandchild on the way, sister Dorothy Jean Pittman and husband Jimmy, sister’s-in-law Janet Wylie and Pamela Baker and husband Keith, as well numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, close friends and her work family that will miss her so dearly.

The family of Waynoka Wylie will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Binghamtown Baptist Church.

A Celebration of her life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Binghamtown Baptist Church with Dr. William Boyd Bingham presiding.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the Wylie Cemetery, Tazewell, Tennessee.
